3m Cloud Library App
See previously borrowed Cloud Library. Ebooks are downloaded directly to your device or transferred through the cloudLibrary PC app. Do you need a library. Dec 18, 2017 I've been using Cloud Library for years now and the app only improves! There has always been text search. The bookmarks include some words. If you have a Mac or PC, you can download eBooks from Richland Library’s 3M Cloud Library. Instructions: Get Set Up (You will only have to do this once): Download.
The cloudLibrary allows you to borrow and read eBooks and eAudiobooks from your local public library for free. Your library needs to subscribe to the service and you will need your library card and PIN to access the content. The newly redesigned app includes all new navigation and personalization, making it easier than ever to find eBooks or Audiobooks from your local public library. This app includes a fully functional reader allowing the user to read their ebook directly in the app, as well as bookmark and save the position of their book across devices.
It also includes an Audiobook player, allowing the user to download, play and listen to their books offline. Overall I like the app, but I get frustrated when I am switching between devices. It only keeps track of the most recent page, not the furthest page read. So if I happen to open a device that already has the book open, but have read farther on another device, I cannot get back to where I was without some difficulty.
I also have issues on my android tablet, at times it will freeze, and if I can get it to work, it has gone back several pages. I often have to restart my device to get it to work again. I still use the app regularly because I like that I can read well written books for free, but wish that it had better functionality. Sent email for feedback.
Received automated reply to contact local library for help. Local library says it's a developer issue. Sent second email with library response but received same automated email. Lack of support Second Saturday in a row where I can borrow a book supported by my library but app will not allow me to download to device. Again library says it's a defective app. Somebody from app developer please fix this issue Now it takes forever to open up. The earlier issue corrected itself.
This app is useless. Wish Oshawa library would go back to the Overdrive app. I mostly listen to audiobooks. First the player randomly stops in the middle of a chapter?? Second, why is there no sleep timer for audiobooks? I like to fall asleep listening to my books but don't want to have to spend a lot of time figuring out where I was in the book when I fell asleep.
Last, why is there no widget so I can control the apps basic functions from the phone's lock screen? Update: the latest version has a sleep timer and the few seconds of playback from the middle of the last chapter that used to happen between chapters is gone.

Please, fix the issue where the player just randomly stops and make a widget so I can control the app from the lockscreen. 2nd Update: the random stopping has stopped with this update and the app can now has basic controls on the lock screen. No complaints now! 3rd update: please make a widget for this app so audio books can be controlled from the home screen. This app lets you borrow eBooks from your library, which is about the only thing it has going for it and the only reason it gets any rating other than 1 star. Insofar as its UI is concerned, the app is clunky, difficult to navigate, and lacks the fluidity and simplicity of competing platforms like Google Books. You can adjust the sizes, colors, margins etc., and sometime the app even remembers your settings!
Where this app truly fails, however, is in the basic function of keeping your place. When you open a book in this app on any given day, there's maybe a 75% chance that it will have forgotten where you are. Sometimes you get taken to the beginning of the book, sometimes you get taken to the beginning of a chapter, but mostly you just get dropped 'somewhere.' From time to time, it will open where you left off. No problem, use the bookmarking function, right? The app rarely starts you at your most recent bookmark. No problem, pick your bookmarks from a list, right?
They're all gone. This should be trivial stuff. This app fails to serve literally the second most important function of an e-reader - keeping your place. That's pathetic. CloudLibrary is a massive disappointment. My local library made the change in December and I have been trying to get on board with it ever since but it's really just not working for me. I listen to or read 3-5 titles a week and thought I would get over my initial distaste with use.
If I could switch back to Overdrive, I'd drop CloudLibrary in a heartbeat. Browsing is painful, filters aren't nimble at all, if you check out a book but want to check out another you have to start your whole process over again.
On the results screen there's no indicator of what series a book is in and there's no way to search or filter by series. The controls on my phone aren't great, either. The website is just as painful to use. It works in that I can download books and access them.
But they sure don't make the process easy or intuitive.
