The Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication is a four-year degree program with exciting career outcomes for a new generation of creative professionals. Examples of career paths include communication designer, art director, creative director, studio principal, illustrator, in-house designer/illustrator, concept artist, interactive designer, user experience designer - and more! The curriculum is rigorous, industry-focussed, and responsive to cultural change and technological advances; students graduate with highly relevant knowledge and skills. The degree replaces, and builds upon, the successful IDEA (design and illustration) diploma program, which has gained a reputation throughout Canada for effective, industry-ready graduates. New for the degree are opportunities to specialize in branding, illustration or interactive design beginning in third year, an 8-week practicum in fourth year, and a variety of breadth courses to enable students to build connections between visual communication and the contexts in which it is practiced.
