Windows 2003 dst patch

I have 2 recently deployed Exchange 2003 Enterprise Servers that host mailboxes and public folders. The operating system is Windows 2003 R2 SP2.

I fully patched Exchange 2003 (including KB926666 and KB959897 for Daylight Savings Time) before I migrated mailboxes onto the servers but I discovered today that they have no Windows Daylight Savings Time patches. They do not have KB951072, KB955839, nor KB970653 installed. I assume I need to install KB970653 to get these servers ready for the Fall Daylight Savings Time change that will take place on November 1st by the old date of October 25th (the last Sunday of October). If I apply the KB970653 to these Exchange 2003 Servers before the old DST time takes effect, will calendar items keep the same time and not change by 1 hour?

I want to get these servers patched with the Windows DST patch as soon as possible but I want to make sure I don't end up corrupting current calendar items by 1 hour in the process. Will I need to run the Exchange DST Tool afterwards? Please let me know.

All other Exchange Servers and workstations are patched with all required DST patches. I did a test where I moved one of the mailboxes on the unpatched server to another Exchange Server that has both the Windows and Exchange are fully patched. I thought this would be a good test because it would simulate the mailbox going on a server that was unpatched to patched. When I moved the mailbox, all calendar items looked fine and did not change at all in Outlook and on OWA.

So I think this is a good sign but I'm still not sure what will happen when I apply the latest Windows DST patch. Steve M Steve March 21.10.09 13:58.

Did you also have to install KB926666? Bit confused on which ones to install on a brand Exchange 2003 install. Thanks, J Steve March wrote: I opened a ticket with MS and they said it will not be a problem to installthe 21-Oct-09 I opened a ticket with MS and they said it will not be a problem to install the Windows OS DST patch onto the Exchange Servers. Calendar times are determined at the CDO and client levels and it is not based off of the time tables of the Server OS. I went ahead and installed the lastest patch and had no issues.
