Hi, I am new to this forum, I desperately need help with my MK4 Golf's central locking! Bet you have had lots of these quetions before? The remote central locking has recently stopped working, replaced batteries in fob, I have checked all fuses in usual box and the one under the steering wheel, all fine. Disconnected battery for whole day, still the same.

Removed sensor in roof (interior light) for inspection and nothing obvious. Not really sure what to try next, If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. You door microswitch has gone out.

This tells the car or CCM (comfort control module) that the door is closed. The CCM will not let you lock the car with the key, and by pressing the button inside should lock all doors but the drivers. You will need to replace your door lock module.

Had this with my golf on both doors you can fix it with sum soldering BUT i just went & got sum new ones from VW £125 like but there new + newer microswitch so no problems eny more. Here is a DIY thread somewhat explaing the door lock module, and how to replace it.

Thanks for joining in, more help the better! The central locking won't work off the key, I have to lock all the doors seperately (5dr). When I press the lock button on the drivers handle when inside the car with all doors shut, only drivers side doors lock, both passenger side door pins bounce up again. I have noticed that the little red light on the drivers door lock pin does not flash anymore. I'm really struggling to work out what it can be as I have checked the usual things and am now out of ideas! Just got back from vw specialists in Norwich and had diagnostics and key re-programme for £32 including VAT.

They connect up a laptop with diagnostics cable (the one that connects above the ash tray but under the stereo) it takes about 5 minutes! All central locking now works, I am so so happy after the stress I got from this fault. I replaced the CCM unit (£34 ebay, note: it has to be the same part number as original) before the re-programme and it's all rosey now!.
